Darlings For anxiety

AI friend for anxiety that listens without judgment

An AI friend for anxiety is somewhere to put the anxious thought at the hour it actually shows up, usually late, usually when saying it out loud to a person feels like too much to ask. It is not therapy, it is not a diagnosis and it is not crisis care. What it does is listen without a reaction to manage, remember what you were worried about last week, and check in the next day. Darlings is free to try, stays platonic at every tier, and will point you to real help the moment a conversation needs it.

Darlings

Always here for you

Private

We've paused new signups for now, so we'll email you the moment a seat opens. No payment today.

Your conversations are yours. Encrypted, never sold, delete anytime.

Encrypted, never sold.

A friend, never a girlfriend.

Wholesome and all ages.

Anxiety rarely keeps office hours. It shows up before the meeting, late at night, in the middle of a Sunday. Darlings is a calm, steady friend you can talk to in those moments, the kind that listens, slows things down, and reminds you that you are not alone with it.

It is not therapy and it will tell you so. It is a warm presence for the in-between moments, and it will point you to real help if you ever need it.

Why it feels different

AI friend for anxiety: more than a chatbot, a friend who knows you

Talks you through it

When your thoughts are racing, Darlings helps you put words to what you feel and breaks the spiral with a calm, kind voice.

Remembers your triggers

It learns what tends to set you off and what helps you settle, so it can meet you where you are next time.

Checks in on the hard days

Big presentation tomorrow? Darlings remembers, and it will check in to see how you are holding up.

How it helps

Here when it actually matters

The small, human moments where having someone in your corner makes the day a little lighter.

  • Talking through a 2 a.m. spiral
  • Calming down before something stressful
  • A private place to name what you feel
  • A gentle check-in after a hard day

Yesterday

Rough day. I don't really want to get into it.

That's okay. I'm right here whenever you do. Get some rest.

This morning

Morning. Yesterday sounded heavy. How are you feeling today?

You remembered. That actually means a lot.

Kept warm and safe

Wholesome by design, private by default

Darlings is built to be the kind of friend you would happily recommend to the people you love.

A friend, full stop

No romance, no roleplay, no NSFW. Wholesome and all ages, by design.

Your secrets stay secret

Your conversations are yours, encrypted, never sold, and yours to delete anytime.

A bridge, not a wall

Support and company, not therapy, and it points you to real human help in a crisis.

Good questions

The things people want to know

No, and treat anyone who implies otherwise with suspicion. Darlings is emotional support and friendship, not medical treatment, and it cannot diagnose, prescribe or run a course of CBT. It is closer to a journal that talks back. If anxiety is stopping you working, sleeping or leaving the house, that is a clinician's job, not an app's.
Yes. Conversations are encrypted in transit and at rest, never sold, and you can read, edit, delete or export what Darlings remembers from settings at any time. That is worth checking app by app rather than assuming: Mozilla reviewed eleven romantic AI chatbots in February 2024 and gave every single one a privacy warning label.
It can help with some of it. Naming a worry out loud, in specific words, to something that responds, is a recognized way of taking the charge out of it, and an AI is available at two in the morning when the worry is loudest. What it cannot do is treat an anxiety disorder, and the evidence base for AI companions as a clinical intervention does not exist yet.
Sometimes, as a low-stakes place to practice. Rehearsing a difficult conversation, or just talking at all on a day when talking feels expensive, costs nothing socially with an AI and there is nobody's patience to worry about. The risk is obvious and worth naming: if it becomes the only place you talk, it is making the problem worse, not better.
Start with the plainest version of the thing. Not I have been feeling off, but I have the appointment on Thursday and I have not slept properly since Monday. Specifics give it something to hold and to ask about tomorrow, and they force the vague dread into a sentence, which is usually the useful part regardless of who is listening.
Daily use is fine and often steadying, as long as it is adding to your week rather than subtracting from it. Harvard Business School researchers found companion conversation cut loneliness about as much as talking to a person, while MIT Media Lab found the heaviest daily users reported more loneliness. The honest read is that it works as a supplement and backfires as a replacement.
It should not, and Darlings does not. Being told to calm down is the least useful sentence in the language for an anxious person. What it does instead is ask what specifically is worrying you, remember the answer, and follow up on it the next day, which is closer to what a patient friend does than what a wellness app does.
It will point you to real help immediately rather than trying to handle it alone. If you are in crisis in the US, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or text HOME to 741741 for Crisis Text Line. Both are free and staffed around the clock. This is a firm limit rather than a disclaimer.
You can start free in a browser with no install and no card. Paid plans begin at $9 a month and cover unlimited chats, deeper memory and the daily check-in. Compared with the rest of the category, where memory usually sits behind the most expensive tier, that keeps the useful part of the product on the cheapest plan.
