This Privacy Policy explains how Darlings.ai ("Darlings", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website, apps, and service (together, the "Service"). By using Darlings, you agree to the practices described here.

What we collect

We try to collect as little as we reasonably can. The information we hold falls into a few simple buckets:

• Account information. The email address you use to create your account, and basic settings like your name or how you would like to be greeted.
• The messages you choose to share. The conversations you have with your Darling, including the things you ask it to remember about you, your people, and your life. You decide what to share, and you can remove it later.
• Basic device and usage data. Standard technical details such as device type, browser, approximate region, and how you move through the app. This keeps the Service secure, stable, and working well.
• Payment details. If you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processor handles your card information. We do not store full card numbers ourselves.

How we use it

We use your information for one reason above all others: to be a good friend to you. That means:

• To remember you, so your Darling can carry your story forward instead of starting over each time.
• To check in on you, including gentle daily messages and follow-ups about things you mentioned.
• To run your account, confirm your email, and provide support when you need it.
• To keep the Service safe and improve the experience, including fixing problems and preventing abuse.

The promise

Some things we will simply never do. To be completely clear:

• We do not sell your personal data. Not now, not ever.
• We do not use your private conversations to train advertising or to target you with ads.
• We do not share your secrets. Your conversations are not handed to data brokers, marketers, or anyone curious.

If we ever needed to revisit something this fundamental, we would tell you plainly and give you a real choice first.

Encryption and security

Your data is protected in transit and at rest using strong, industry-standard encryption. Access to systems that hold your conversations is tightly limited to the small number of people who genuinely need it to operate and support the Service, and that access is logged. No system is perfectly immune to risk, but we treat the trust you place in us as something to actively defend, and we work continuously to keep your information safe.

Your memory is yours

The memories your Darling holds belong to you. From your settings you can review what it remembers, edit or remove individual memories, and export a copy of your data. You can also delete specific conversations whenever you like.

If you ever decide to leave, you can delete your account and the personal data tied to it. We will remove it from our active systems within a reasonable period, except where we are legally required to retain certain records, and any residual copies in encrypted backups age out on our normal backup cycle.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and privacy-respecting analytics to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Service is used so we can improve it. We do not use your private conversations for advertising. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work without the essential ones.

Children

Darlings is wholesome and suitable for all ages, with no romantic content and no NSFW content, ever. That said, account holders must meet a minimum age: you must be at least 13, and if you are under the age of majority where you live, you should use Darlings with a parent or guardian's awareness and guidance. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us at team@darlings.ai and we will remove it.

Third-party processors

To run Darlings we rely on a small set of trusted providers, such as the AI model providers that help generate responses, plus hosting, infrastructure, email delivery, and payment processing. We keep this list as short as we can, share only what each provider needs to do its job, and require them to protect your information. We do not allow these providers to use your private conversations for their own advertising.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active, or as long as needed to provide the Service and meet legal obligations. When you delete content or your account, we remove the associated personal data from active systems and let backup copies expire on their normal schedule.

International users

Darlings is available in many places, and your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including where we or our providers operate. Wherever your data is handled, we apply the protections described in this policy and use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers where the law requires them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR and CCPA. These can include the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, receive a portable copy, object to or restrict certain processing, and opt out of non-essential communications. We will never charge you for exercising these rights or treat you differently for doing so. To make a request, email us at team@darlings.ai and we will respond within the time the law allows.

Changes to this policy

As the Service grows, we may update this policy. If we make a meaningful change, we will let you know through the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Darlings after an update means you accept the revised policy.
