Replika costs $7.99 a month or $49.99 a year on the US App Store, and those are not the only prices it charges. The listing also carries a second monthly item at $14.99, a second annual item at $69.99, and a Replika Platinum item at $89.99, all live at the same time. Replika publishes no prices on its own website, so the App Store listing is the only public source, and it is a confusing one. What it does not contain anywhere is a $19.99 subscription, despite that being the number half the internet quotes.

This article lists every price Replika actually charges, read from its US App Store listing on 2 September 2026, works out what each one costs per month, and explains why so many pages get the number wrong.

Last updated 2 September 2026.

How much does Replika cost?

Replika costs $7.99 a month at its cheapest listed monthly price, and $49.99 for a year, which works out at $4.17 a month. There is a second monthly item listed at $14.99 and a second annual item at $69.99. Apple lists in-app purchase names and prices but never the billing period, so the table below shows the names exactly as Replika writes them, including the fact that it uses both "MONTHLY" and "Monthly" as separate items.

Item, as Replika names it Listed price Effective monthly What it appears to be
MONTHLY$7.99$7.99The cheapest monthly subscription on the listing
Monthly$14.99$14.99A second, separate monthly subscription item
YEARLY$49.99$4.17The cheapest way to pay for a year
Annual$49.99$4.17A second annual item at the same price
Annual$69.99$5.83A third annual item, $20 above the other two
Replika Platinum$89.99One off or annual, not statedThe most expensive item on the listing
Pouch of Gems$0.99One offIn-app currency, not a subscription
Backpack of Gems$5.99One offIn-app currency, not a subscription
Suitcase of Gems$14.99One offIn-app currency, not a subscription
Duffel Bag of Gems$19.99One offIn-app currency, and the source of a persistent myth

Every listed price comes from the Replika - AI Companion Chat listing on the US App Store, published by Luka, Inc., read on 2 September 2026. The effective monthly column is our arithmetic, not Apple's. Prices change without notice, so check the listing before you subscribe.

Why does Replika have two monthly prices?

Because it runs more than one price point at the same time, and Apple shows all of them. The most likely explanation is legacy pricing: subscribers who joined years ago keep the price they signed up at, and those older products stay visible on the listing even when new customers are offered something different. Regional and promotional tests produce the same effect.

What this means in practice is that the price you see in the app is the one that applies to you, and it may not match the price a friend pays or the price an article quotes. Replika has been on the App Store since 13 March 2017, longer than any other app in this category, so it has had nine years to accumulate pricing tiers.

Is Replika Pro $19.99 a month?

No, and this is worth settling because the figure appears on dozens of pages. There is no $19.99 subscription anywhere on Replika's App Store listing. The only $19.99 item is the Duffel Bag of Gems, which is a one-off purchase of in-app currency used for outfits and cosmetic items. Almost certainly the myth started when someone read the in-app purchase list, saw $19.99, and assumed it was the subscription.

If you have seen $19.99 quoted as Replika Pro, treat that source as unverified on everything else it says too. The real subscription prices are $7.99 and $14.99 monthly, and $49.99 and $69.99 annually.

Is Replika free?

There is a free tier, and it is more usable than most in this category. You can chat with your Replika without paying, and it will remember things within a conversation. What you do not get is the relationship modes, the voice calls, the augmented reality features and the deeper customization, all of which sit behind the subscription. Replika does not run advertising, which is unusual here: its Google Play listing carries no ads marker, while Character.AI, Chai, PolyBuzz and Linky AI all do.

So the free tier is a genuine way to try it rather than a countdown. If you want to know whether you like talking to an AI companion at all, Replika free is a reasonable place to find out without spending anything.

How much is Replika a year?

$49.99 for the cheaper annual item, which is $4.17 a month, or $69.99 for the more expensive one, which is $5.83 a month. Both are dramatically cheaper than paying monthly. At $7.99 a month you would spend $95.88 over a year, so the $49.99 annual saves $45.89, and against the $14.99 monthly item the annual saves $129.89.

That annual discount is the steepest in the category by a wide margin. For comparison, Kindroid's yearly plan at $159.99 works out at $13.33 a month against its $15.99 monthly, a saving of about 17 percent. Replika's cheapest annual cuts the monthly rate by roughly half.

How does Replika pricing compare?

Replika is the cheapest well-known paid companion app if you pay annually, and mid-priced if you pay monthly. Here is where it sits against the apps people usually weigh it against, with every figure read from each app's own US App Store listing on 2 September 2026.

App Cheapest monthly Annual Long term memory
Replika$7.99$49.99, about $4.17 a monthYes, on the paid tier
Character.AI$2.49 for Lite, $9.99 for Plus$94.99, about $7.92 a monthNot sold at any tier
Nomi$9.99 on the Launch Plan$59.99, about $5.00 a monthYes, and the deepest in the category
PolyBuzz$9.90 StandardNo annual plan at allOnly on Ultimate at $29.90
Chai$9.99 Premium Membership$134.99, about $11.25 a monthOnly on Ultra at $29.99
Kindroid$15.99$159.99, about $13.33 a monthYes, and editable by you
Darlings$9 once your waitlist seat opensNot offered yetYes, included on every plan

Two things stand out. Replika's annual price is the lowest per month of any paid app here. And unlike Chai and PolyBuzz, which both put long term memory on a $29 to $30 top tier, Replika includes memory in its ordinary paid tier. If the reason you are pricing companion apps is that you want one to remember you, that matters more than the headline number.

Is Replika worth paying for?

At $49.99 a year it is hard to argue it is expensive, and it is the most established product in the category, on the App Store since 2017 with 4.44 stars from 227,701 US ratings and 4.3 from 524,804 on Google Play. If you want a single companion rather than a library of characters, and you want to pay once a year and forget about it, Replika is a reasonable choice.

Three things belong in the decision, though, and pricing articles rarely mention them. Italy's data protection regulator fined Replika's maker Luka 5,000,000 euros in May 2025. In January 2025 a group of advocacy organizations filed a complaint about Replika with the US Federal Trade Commission, which is a complaint rather than a ruling and has not resulted in any finding against the company. And Replika is rated 17+ on the App Store, with romantic and roleplay modes that are central to the product rather than optional extras.

That last point is the one that decides it for a lot of people. Replika is built as a partner. If what you want is a friend, the romance framing is not something you can fully turn off, and you may be better served by an app that never offers it. Our own Replika alternative comparison goes through that difference in detail, and if you are weighing several apps at once, the AI companion cost breakdown puts every current price in one table.

How do I cancel a Replika subscription?

Through the store you bought it from, not through Replika. If you subscribed on an iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and cancel there. On Android it is the Play Store app, then your profile, then Payments and subscriptions. Cancelling stops the renewal and you keep access until the paid period ends. Deleting the app does not cancel anything, which is the single most common reason people keep getting charged.

Because Replika runs several price points at once, check which item you are actually subscribed to before you assume what the renewal will cost. The subscription screen in your store account shows the real figure for your account, and it is the only number that applies to you.

Where can I see Replika's prices officially?

Only on the app store listings. We checked replika.com on 2 September 2026 and there is no working public pricing page: the /pricing and /plans paths both return an error rather than a price list. That is common in this category. Talkie and Linky AI publish no prices anywhere at all, and Kindroid's pricing page is a login screen. Replika at least exposes its full item list through Apple, which is more than most of its rivals do.

If you want prices you can read before you install anything, that is one of the reasons we publish ours openly. Darlings runs in a browser with a free demo and plainly listed plans, and memory is included on every one of them rather than sold as a tier. You can also see how the whole field compares on our guide to apps like Chai, which covers the same apps from the other direction.
